Music & Motors at The Lawn, Classic & Retro Show

Gemini Events’ Classic and Retro Show returns to The Lawn, Essex, on Sunday 23rd June with another stellar line up of music and motors that are guaranteed to get you dancing!

Sponsored by ClassicLine Insurance, around 300 vehicles from yesteryear are expected to attend the one-day show including fantastic displays from some of the UK’s best motor clubs.

Southend and District Classic Car Club, Granada 1234 Club, Ford Sidevalve Owners Club, TR Register, Lotus Drivers Club, Mini Life, S2KUK – UK S2000 Owners Club, and the Island Rodders will all be displaying their members’ finest vehicles.

Along with the clubs, there’s also an eclectic line-up of privately-owned vehicles on show ranging from a 1928 Austin Chummy, owned by Michael Denny, to a 2017 AC Cobra kit car from Mark Feeney.

From British sports cars such as Paul Osborne’s 1957 MGA Roadster to Eric Spires’ 1991 Renault RB44. There are plenty of American muscle cars including Peter Edmondson’s Ford correct and unmolested 1966 Mustang in the rare factory original Tahoe Turquoise paint and Aqua interior.

Paul Hattersley’s Ford Transit and Volkswagen T2b will both be on display whereas they are usually on duty as they are used by Paul’s village fire service. Malcolm Wrefod is bringing his 1987 Bedford utility truck and trailer called Elsie, which is dedicated to all the women who served in the army and the Land Girls who supported Britain and the troops in the Second World War.

Malcolm explains: “Our truck (Elsie) was shipped back to the UK in August 2018. she had an easy life in the army as she was sent to Ireland from new and was commissioned as a TA Vehicle to the 40 Signals Regiment in Ulster most of her life, she has only done 6000 miles from new. Elsie was also the second from last Bedford military truck to come off of the production line before Bedfords sold out to AWD.”

Along with the fabulous display of vintage and classic motors in the ground of this beautiful Essex Georgian manor house, there is also a brilliant line-up of live musical acts to keep the retro vibe going.

The Candy Girls will be bringing a sprinkling of vintage glamour to the day - performing classics from the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s as well as modern chart hits that have been given a retro makeover.

They will be joined by Smileys Showband, playing some of the finest Country, Motown and classic Rock 'n' Roll ever recorded. Lianna Haynes completes the line-up with a mix of retro tunes while Mr Dickie Bows will be giving free dance lessons as well as showing you some of their moves.

Fantastic fun for all the family with classic cars from the bygone years of motoring, vintage fashions and apparel, as well as live music and dance demonstrations and a great array of classic trade stalls mean there is plenty to keep you entertained all day.

Gates open at 10am until 4pm. Admission starts from £10 for adults when booked in advance, with free admission for children aged 16 and under.

Tickets also available on the gate. Free parking for all visitors.
