BUMPER TURNOUT AT RAGLEY HALL MOTOR SHOW

June 29, 2017

Over 1,000 classic cars turned up on a beautiful Sunday morning for the start of the Ragley Hall Motor Show, with clubs pulling out all the stops with their displays and putting the flags out, with some even having matching caravans which they had brought to make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend.

Best Club Stand went to the Metropolitan Owners Club which has been attending the show for many years, while Best in Show was won by David Hames from Burntwood in Staffordshire, with his Triumph Dolomite custom, who was delighted with the honour and although a winner in class many times had never before won ‘Best in Show’.

Gemini Events provided additional awards this year due to the sheer number of quality show cars on site with winner, runner up and third place awards in many classes. In total over 80 awards were presented by Lord Hertford, who always find the time to visit the show and is kind enough to hand out the awards at the end of the day.

Exhibitors and visitors were treated to three live performances from 1960s band The Quik Beats, while Les Clayton entertained owners in the arena with a special award

for owners driving their classic on a regular basis.

The ‘Pride of Ownership’ award bought Les close to tears as owners told their stories about their passion for their classic and the special memories of loved ones in the family no longer with them.

An overcast start did not put owners off from turning out in good number on Bank Holiday Monday with around 300 vehicles expected on show. The Blueprint Blues Brother did a great job of entertaining the crowds and Les was well supported by the owners in the arena with another packed morning of entertainment.

There was another great turnout for the Decibel Duel, which saw a close competition between a custom Beetle and AC Cobra replica. Unfortunately due to the rain in the afternoon it was decided to bring forward the awards ceremony and Lord Hertford hastily left a family lunch to support and thank owners and Gemini Events for another great show.

Stephen Smith, Events Director at Gemini Events said ’A big thank you to all the owners who bought out some great vehicles to join us over the two days particularly Monday when the forecast was so bad. Ragley Hall is a beautiful venue whatever the weather.  It’s such a shame that as soon as we start to say goodbye to owners after a thorough drenching at the Monday award ceremony, the rain promptly stopped at 4pm the official end of the show!”
