Over 1,000 classic vehicles are heading for Trentham Gardens in Staffordshire on Sunday 18th June, for Father’s Classic Day Out, including a unique slice of hand-built American motoring – the prototype of the Gwynn Prix.
The Gwynn Prix was the creation of Bob Gwynn; innovative designer of men’s clothing and the personal tailor of John Delorean and other leading Detroit automotive executives. Production was planned for 50 per year but the market responded with a complete lack of interest – only the prototype was produced and remained in the hands of its creator until the mid 1990s. Now in the UK, it will doubtless be one of the key exhibits at Father’s Classic Day Out.
Over fifty classic car clubs will be attending, including national organisations such as Club Lotus, the Panther Car Club, the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, along with regional clubs including Stoke on Trent Classic Car Club, North Staffs RS Owners Club and Market Drayton Mini Club.
The Potteries Vintage Classic Car Club will be bringing a number of unusual pre-war cars to the event, including a 1928 Dodge Victory Six, a 1926 Austin Clifton, and a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe. It's display will overlook the Italian lake, so will be well worth a visit for keen photographers!
Class winners and the overall ‘Best in Show’ prize will be awarded as part of a new awards ceremony for those which attract the most attention on the day. Plus, the ‘Car Catwalk’ returns after its 2016 debut, giving visitors the chance to find out more about the cars from their owners.
For those restoring their pride and joy, or looking for something to hang on the wall, there will be a number of trade and autojumble stands along with wider-ranging trade stalls for the whole family.
For families, the stunning Italian Gardens and lake make for excellent attractions, along with the garden centre and on-site shops.
Advanced tickets can be purchased direct from Trentham Gardens, at £11.25 for adults and £9.60 for concessions and children. Tickets can be purchased on the door at £15 for adults, £14 for concessions and £10.50 for children.
