Gemini Events Saves Two Classic Car Shows in South Yorkshire

When David Read of Stately Solutions died suddenly at the end of 2014 the future of two highly popular events was cast into doubt. Stately Solutions had organised two big annual events at Wentworth Woodhouse in Yorkshire - The Grand Easter Parade and The Herbert Austin Day - but it seemed unlikely they would continue.

However, an introduction to David Read's widow resulted in Stephen Smith of Gemini Events making the decision that both shows should be safeguarded and continue as important fixtures on the South Yorkshire event calendar.

The Grand Easter Parade took place with up to 500 classic vehicles displayed on the 200 metre wide lawns of Europe’s longest stately home. Unfortunately Gemini's intervention has come too late to organise the show for this year but Stephen Smith anticipates its revival in 2016.

Sir Herbert Austin, who was born in Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire, moved to the Wentworth Woodhouse estate in 1870 and went on to found Austin Motors in 1905. His legacy is celebrated with 'Herbert Austin Day' where Austin vehicle owners take their place in the Herbert Austin section at the front to the house. All other vintage and classic vehicles of all makes are also welcomed to Wentworth Woodhouse and the 2015 show takes place on Sunday 6th September. The day will feature a vintage village with tea-room, vintage clothes and homeware, while enthusiasts will enjoy a wide selection of autojumble trade stands.
